My Story

Hi! I’m Jasper — your joyful, loyal, big-hearted best friend in the making. 💛

If you’re looking for a loving companion with a happy spirit and a playful spark, I might just be your guy.

I am a really affectionate, people-oriented pup. I love being near my person and will usually settle calmly in whatever room you’re in. While I still have that “big puppy” energy and can get excited easily (life is just so fun!), most of the time I’m content to relax close by and just be part of the moment.

When I first arrived in foster care, I was pretty restless and had trouble settling. But I’ve come such a long way! Now I sleep soundly at night — usually stretched out across the front door like a proper guardian.

I very much want to make my people happy. I already know “sit,” and when I’m outside, I come inside immediately when I’m called — every time! (Apparently that’s pretty impressive!) I respond well to a simple verbal “No” and do best with clear, consistent guidance.

I’m almost always housetrained and will walk to the door when I need to go out. I can hold it overnight like a champ and a good routine keeps me successful.

I can be left alone for several hours a couple of days a week and do just fine. I do have a mischievous streak — I’m still very much a puppy and may “borrow” items from tables or shelves if I’m bored. Keeping tempting treasures out of reach and giving me enrichment helps me stay on track.

I’m very friendly with strangers and love meeting new people. I enjoy playing with other dogs and would likely thrive with a playful canine sibling. I live with a senior cat now and think the cat is pretty neat.

Because I get excited and can jump up when I’m happy, I’d do best with older children so no one gets accidentally knocked over.

The Little Things

  • My barking is minimal.
  • I’m not bothered by thunder.
  • I like car rides.
  • You can handle me easily — collar grabs and all.
  • I’m affectionate, playful, active, and truly an easygoing family-type dog.

I’m a loving, happy boy who has already grown so much and is ready to keep maturing with the right family. With structure, activity, and lots of love, I’ll be an incredible companion.

Love,
Jasper

‘Tis the season for ginger, Max Ginger to be exact! You see, ginger is a key ingredient in pumpkin pie spice, so I’ve arrived just in time for Fall. It’s a warming spice just like me because I’ll keep you cozy and warm with lots of pyr cuddles. When I want to get some attention, I’ll tap you gingerly with my paw; we call that pyr paw! I like to snuggle close with my humans both young and old. Maybe, I’ll play in leaf piles with the kiddos outside in the backyard. I’m still a young pyr boy, so I can keep up with them!  Part of my young pyr energy means that I still chew on things when bored because I like to be kept busy, but I’m learning. I like to play with toys, so that’s a great way to keep me occupied. We can even watch the leaves fall as you brush my glorious fur! That’s another activity I really enjoy. Or, maybe, I’ll lay by your side while you enjoy a pumpkin spice latte. And, if we have to drive to the coffee shop to get it, that’s okay because I’m good in the car. While humans are the spice of life, I get along great with other dogs too. I can bring a gingery sweetness to your pack! Cats and other small animals make me get a little spicy and want to give chase, so I shouldn’t go to a home with them. You’ll see on a walk that squirrels make me feel the same way. Another funny thing about me is how I walk on the leash; I’m very steady and don’t pull, but I zig-zag. My foster mama says I just need lots of practice. One thing I am already skilled at is pottying outside! All the best things in life have ginger: gingerbread, pumpkin pie, ginger ale, and me, of course! Please think about taking me home and making me a part of your family.
