Hello everyone, I’m Bella D., a 7 year old, 96 lb female and am happy because GPRA took me in and got me all fixed up. I am now healthy and ready for my fur-ever home! I know a few commands (come, stop, stay) but like any Pyr worth their salt, I also make my own decisions. I am house trained. I am not a counter surfer or a food beggar. I take medicine and treats very well. I love to sit outside and watch the world go by for a little while but you can’t leave me out for too long by myself because supposedly I jump fences when I get bored. I was shaved and my fur is slowly growing back in but it doesn’t matter, I still think I’m a beautiful girl. I currently am in heartworm treatment and my foster human says I’ve been such a good girl. I like to walk on a leash but if you’re looking for a fast walker, I’m not your girl. I like to go at my own pace. People say I look sad but I’m really a very sweet, happy girl and so thankful to GPRA. I am good around people of all ages (even kids) and mostly good around other dogs, sometimes it just takes me a minute. I’m getting better in the car and really just want to be around my people as much as possible. I have been visiting the seniors at the nursing home and they LOVE me. Truth be told, I love the attention they give me. So, what do you say, do you have love in your heart and room in your home? If so, please email info@greatpyratlanta.com or click the “Apply to Adopt” button below.

Our main mission at GPRA is to find the right permanent home for Great Pyrenees in distress, whether they are strays or from an overpopulated kill or no-kill shelter. We don’t care how old they are or what their medical condition is because we will make sure they receive a comprehensive medical evaluation, spaying or neutering, and even behavioral training if necessary.

Hi ya’ll, I’m Amos, a 2-year-old, 96 lb. former stray turned GPRA rescue. Or ½ rescue since I still need a home. I wish I could tell you a bunch of stuff about myself to help you fall in love at first reading but sadly, I don’t know anything. Oh wait, I just remembered something: the GPRA vet says I’m sweet and like to rest my head against whomever is petting me. Hey, I have an idea, how about you rescue me, and I’ll rescue you right back? I just quoted the last line of Pretty Woman to show off how smart I am. Want to curl up on the couch and watch movies together? Or maybe build wrist and hand strength petting me endlessly? Or how about doing a taste test with different brands of treats? If those activities sound as great to you as they do to me, please email info@greatpyratlanta.com or click “Apply to Adopt” below.

Hi, I’m Charley, a 3 year-old boy weighing in around 95 lbs. I’m from at least three different states and as it turns out, not well suited to my family’s military life. I’m proud of them, and they love me very much, but the recent moves and changes upset me. And they are moving again this month. So, GPRA agreed to help me find a new home. Here are some of my winning personality traits for you to fall in love with: I potty outside and can be home alone for almost eight hours; I am great with kids; I am a STAR Puppy and Canine Good Citizen Training graduate; and I like other dogs as long as I’m free to play with them instead of attached to my leash.  In fact, I hope you will help me learn to like my leash again, be less responsive to what I see through the windows, and calmer when new people come into our home. Yes, I said OUR home and if that sounds right to you, too please email info@greatpyratlanta.com or click the “Apply to Adopt” button below.

Well, hello! I am Casper, the friendly Pyr! I am 2 years old and 96 lbs of smiling fluff. I had a family that took me in after a really bad person threw me out of a moving vehicle. They took good care of me and tried to get a big guy like me to fit in with all of their little pups. It didn’t take long for them to realize that I needed more room to run and play for me to be happy. I’m still smiling. I am a little shy at first but I am working on meeting more people and learning to trust them. I am good with other dogs but don’t always understand when they want me to stop playing. I love kids! They smile and are happy just like I am. I am learning how to get in the car without being scared and all kinds of other new things! I am learning about a leash and going for walks! I am good in the house and discovered those comfy things they call couches. Oh, I do like couches! I can’t wait to meet MY own family that will teach me all of the things that I need to know, especially that being home, is the best place you can be.  Contact GPRA to learn more about me at info@greatpyratlanta.com.
