My Story
Hi, Iām Hank!
Iām currently in boarding and doing my best, but what I really want is a home where I can feel safe, loved, and part of the family.
Iām a friendly, affectionate guyājust ask the volunteers and clinic staff who care for me every day. I love attention, lean in for pets, and enjoy being close to my people. I walk great on a leash, stay right by your side, and I already know āsit,ā āstay,ā and ādown.ā Iām also housebroken, which Iāve been told is a big plus!
Iām easygoing when it comes to cars, traffic, and loud noises, and I handle other dogs well when passing them on walks or in boarding. I may grumble at bouncy puppies or dogs who donāt respect my space, but who wouldnāt? Iām also good with kids I meet out and about.
Iāll be honest about one thingāI tend to bond deeply with one person, which means itās important that everyone in the home spends equal time with me so I learn to trust and feel safe with the whole family. I did show some food-protective behavior with one person in my previous home, but not with other. Though with patience and consistency, I can learn to bond with anyone. I just need a family willing to work with me and help me feel secure.
A couple more things you should know: I donāt like having my feet touched, and boarding is really stressful for me. I thrive when people are home often and Iām not left alone for long periods. I just want to be part of the group and know that my people are close by.
If youāre looking for a loyal companion who wants nothing more than to love and be loved, I might be your perfect match. Iām ready to find a steady, patient home that will give me the chance to shine.

Our main mission at GPRA is to find the right permanent home for Great Pyrenees in distress, whether they are strays or from an overpopulated kill or no-kill shelter. We donāt care how old they are or what their medical condition is because we will make sure they receive a comprehensive medical evaluation, spaying or neutering, and even behavioral training if necessary.
