Hi! I am the friendly and loving Polar Blizzard! Even though my name might sound a little foreboding, know that this Polar Blizzard will melt hearts!
Lucky for me, my Pyr-tastic foster parents are eager to tell you all about me. Here goes…
“Polar Blizzard loves his humans. He is a confident boy and checks on his humans throughout the day to see what we are doing. He will bond quickly with trusting humans. During the day and sometimes in the evening, Polar finds a quiet place in a closet area to rest and sleep.” (Yep, I love being in close proximity with my humans! Did you know that Pyrs are gregarious? I will also enjoy having another Pyr-friend and/or fur-sibling home with me for companionship, too.)
“Polar Blizzard is great with visitors. When neighbors visit, he leans up against them for more petting.” (I love receiving affection. The more attention, the merrier I am!)
“Polar Blizzard takes two long walks each day and some shorter walks. He is good on a leash and does not pull or show much interest in other dogs.” (Walks are the best, and I love spending lots of quality time with my humans! I hope to enjoy lots of daily walks in the future, too!)
Oh, one more thing, GPRA recommends that my future home not have cats or smaller dogs.
Pyr-ready for adoption and my very own loving family, Polar Blizzard

Our main mission at GPRA is to find the right permanent home for Great Pyrenees in distress, whether they are strays or from an overpopulated kill or no-kill shelter. We don’t care how old they are or what their medical condition is because we will make sure they receive a comprehensive medical evaluation, spaying or neutering, and even behavioral training if necessary.

I need a new home. You might think my family’s reasons are a bit shallow so let’s talk about the good stuff, ok? I’m a 3-year-old, 92 lb., girl who LOVES to snuggle on the furniture—which is very comforting when I hear those scary, loud noises. I also love doggie day care, car rides, toys, being inside, and other dogs. I’m gentle with children and usually stay out of their way. Maybe I’ll learn to play with them if I have the right people teaching me. Oh, I’m almost always house trained and I’ve home alone up to 12 hours without any problems. I’m indifferent to cats but there are a few things to consider as you fall hopelessly in love with my pictures: I hate going outside, which is why occasionally have accidents in the house. A little love and training will probably help this, and maybe you can teach me to not pull on the leash or bark at visitors? If you have space in your heart and home for me, please email info@greatpyratlanta.com or click “Apply to Adopt” below.

Hello? Is anyone there? I’m Chester Bear, a 3 year old, 92 lb boy who, as you can probably tell from my pictures, is a little unsure of what is happening. I have met some very kind people recently who tell me I’m handsome, tall, and safe now because of something called GPRA. I heard a gentle veterinarian tell another human she was giving me medicine for an infection in an old wound and that I am an excellent fence climber. It sounded like maybe she wants me to not do that anymore? Anyway, the dogs I meet say I should find a family so… If you want to share your home with me and be my family, please tell GPRA about you, just email information@greatpyratlanta.com or click the “Apply to Adopt” button below.

Hi, I am Bella, a gorgeous female gal that is well traveled all the way from Nashville through Birmingham to find my forever home. I am a tad over 2 years old and a beauty at 92 lbs. I was originally surrendered to Adopt a Golden Nashville because my family was moving into an apartment and could not have a dog. They asked GPRA for help in placing me in the right home.  Now I am enjoying life with my foster family and waiting for my “meant to be” special someone to fall in love! I love to snuggle with my family and I am especially gentle with children.  I like to be the gal in charge so, if I live with other dogs, I might just let them know who’s the boss. Cats? Nope, I do not mind cats.  I do great in the house and enjoy a good nap on the sofa. Who doesn’t?  I am pretty good with my manners and know some of the commands. I am what you call the “prize package”. I am ready and waiting to find my forever family who wants a super sweet “cuddle bug” to share their life with. Could it be you? Hi there, my name is Harold. I am a middle aged fellow who is very mellow. I am around 5 years old and love to hang out with you and meet all your friends. I get along great with other dogs and love kids and promise not to even bother the cat if you have one. I am searching for my forever home that will provide me a lot of attention. I was a little neglected before and not really sure why. I recently had my coat shaved down before I came into GPRA. They tell me that it will grow back very nice and that I will look like a Lion by this winter to stay warm. I will make a great family dog and I am excited that I get to have a second chance of life. If you believe that I will be a great match, contact GPRA today at info@greatpyratlanta.com

Hello, I am Skylar, a wandering boy who was made safe by a County Animal Control agent and held onto me until GPRA could pull me out.  While I am new to this group, I am learning that I do like car rides and meeting new people can be fun and rewarding.  I am a sweet lover boy who like to lean in and just look for attention.  I just had my spa day so I will have them post new pictures of me so you can see how handsome I really am.  I hope that I get a new family soon because having to stay in that scary place made me lose hope of a fun and adventurous future.  The gals at the vet where I am boarding at keep promising me that my future is bright and there is family out there for me.  This team is working to connect me with the PYRfect family and I know it will be soon.  I will be forever grateful to the family that wants to share their lives with me.  If you think I am the one, contact GPRA today for more information at info@greatpyratlanta.com
