My owners gave me to a county shelter to help save my life. See, they just couldn’t stop this 6-year-old, 86 lb. boy from exploring the world at will, which isn’t really safe, right? To be fair, I can’t say how hard they tried so please don’t hold my curiosity against me. In fact, maybe we can take advantage of it as we get to know each other. We can try walking and playing with toys and visiting cats and meeting other dogs and hanging out with kids, and well, lots of things to help me find the best forever family. The GPRA person who brought me here called me “chill” and “a leaner”, and the shelter people said I get along with other dogs. If those things are good for you, please email info@greatpyratlanta.com or click “Apply to Adopt” below so we can meet.

Our main mission at GPRA is to find the right permanent home for Great Pyrenees in distress, whether they are strays or from an overpopulated kill or no-kill shelter. We don’t care how old they are or what their medical condition is because we will make sure they receive a comprehensive medical evaluation, spaying or neutering, and even behavioral training if necessary.

I’m Ripley, an almost 2+-year-old, 86 lb. female Great Pyrenees. We are a proud, independent breed, which means we don’t ask for help very easily. I need your help please. I’m a sweet girl and I need a very special human to support me while I unlearn some of my natural dog tendencies. For example, I’m a little over protective of my people so I bark when I think they are in danger. And even though keeping our families safe is what makes Pyrs so special, I need to remember twigs and wind and UPS trucks are not dangerous. And maybe you can also love me while I learn to be less protective of my food, too. I’m know I am not the only former stray who fears hunger and since I’m pretty sure you won’t eat my food, I am hoping you can help me learn to stop guarding it. Humans with dog experience would be PYRfect, and if these humans have kids, older ones are probably better so they can use my commands when we play and hang out. GPRA knew I needed some extra help and have sent me for some special classes. My new owner can learn all of the things that I have been taught too! I’m grateful GPRA rescued me once, if you want to help rescue me again, please email us at info@greatpyratlanta.com or click the “Apply to Adopt” button now so you can talk to a GPRA person about me.

Howdy! I am Winston. I am 3 years old and weigh about 86 lbs. I’ve been at  GPRA for a while now. My previous owner realized my brother and I were too much for him. I had a super duper home but a lot of sad things happened and our humans passed away. I have great house manners and am just a happy boy. See my great big smile?! I am good with other dogs and people, big and small. Now, those things that “meow” might make a good snack, so I would do better in a home without those little “meowers”. I do need a little help with walking on a leash. I’ll get there with a little practice! If you are ready to share your sofa with me please contact GPRA at info@greatpyratlanta.com.

Hi there, My name is Buddy and I am a returning GPRA alumni.  Unfortunately one of my 2 legged siblings became very allergic to me and there was not a way to keep us separated. While I am an older gent at the age of 9,  I am very easy going, good with other dogs and kids and of course completely house trained.  I am searching for my furever home where I can enjoy my golden years just being a companion for you.  To learn more about me or interested in adding me to your family, complete the adoption application online and lets start this journey together.

Hello everyone, I am the exotic Cleopatra from a far away land. I am about 2.5 years old and. I love to give hugs when I meet new people and I am just a friendly girl all the time. I am good with cats but I do need to be the only dog in the house. Because of my size, I would do best in a home where there has been past pyr experience and with older children. I enjoy taking walks, loves riding in the car, and spending time with my humans. If you would like to learn more about me, please contact GPRA today at info@greatpyratlanta.com!

Hi everyone, I’m Samson, a handsome young boy returning to GPRA through no fault of my own or my family.  Life has not been very good to my dad lately and so GPRA is going to find me a great home.  I’m just under 2 yr old and still learning manners but I’m a sweet, loving boy.  I love to be around people and will make a great companion.  I am good with other dogs and cats.  If you believe I would make a best friend for you, please contact GPRA today.
