My Story

Hi there! I’m Winter, and I’m here to tell you just how much fun I am. I’m a big, goofy boy who loves to give the best hugs! I may have a big head, but that just means I can give the best snuggles, especially when I flop down in your lap or cuddle up on the couch. I’m full of energy and always ready to play with all my toys! I especially love roughhousing with my doggy friends—only my foster Pyr sister can keep up with me!

When I first came to my foster home, my foster mom gave me a bunch of new toys. I got to pick one just for me, and I chose Rocky the Raccoon! I loved him from the start and would gently nibble on his ears, almost like I was teething or nursing. Now that I’ve settled in, I’m just as happy with all my toys—I’m a pretty content guy!

One of my favorite things ever is cuddling with my foster sister, Isabel. I’m totally obsessed with her—particularly her ankles and the bottoms of her feet! I could spend hours gnawing on her ankles, and she doesn’t mind at all! We curl up together or even sleep nose to nose. It’s like I always need to be touching her in some way. We’re the best of buds!

When it’s time to cuddle with my humans, you’ll find me sitting with my front legs wrapped around your knees for the sweetest “sitting hug.” It’s my own style because I’ve learned I’m too tall for “standing up hugs.” I’m also really smart—I know commands like “sit,” “stay,” “let’s go,” and “come.”

I even know how to be patient for treats, and I’m not greedy at all. When it’s treat time, I sit with the rest of the pack, and we all wait our turn! I’m also super respectful of food and don’t mind sharing with others, but if I have a toy, I might run away with it for a bit (especially if it’s a sock—those are so fun!).

I’m house-trained, so you don’t have to worry about accidents. When I need to go out, I’ll give you a big hint by knocking on the door, and I’ll even let you know if I’m upstairs by breathing heavily or circling.

I do have to admit that I’ve been known to “counter-surf” a bit, which means I might try to sneak food if it’s left out. But hey, I’m a growing boy with a big appetite!

I love being the center of attention, and you can pet me anywhere! I love belly rubs, head scratches, and even letting you play with my paws. I’ll jump right into the car when it’s time to go on an adventure, too!

I’m great with everyone I meet, and I especially love giving hugs and getting attention from my human friends. I haven’t met any kids yet, but I’m sure I’d love them (though I might knock them over with my hugs).

I also do this really cute thing when I get in trouble: I’ll show you my teeth in this adorable “Sorry, I messed up!” face. You can’t stay mad at me for long when I do that! 😇

I need a home where I have another dog to play with because I love having company. I’d also love a family who will give me all the hugs and playtime I can handle. If you’re looking for a big, affectionate goofball who’s ready to fill your life with love and laughter, I’m your guy! Let’s be best friends. 🐾

Anna Peach, here, and my GPRA friends say I’m as pretty as a peach because of how soft and fuzzy I am! At my age, I’m still a young peach who is ripe with some good energy but also that charming pyr calm. Another reason I’m peachy keen is because I’m totally housetrained, so your house will stay as pretty as a peach too. When this peach has to potty, I can use the dog door or stand by the door to let you know it’s time to go out. If you have to leave home, you can leave me free to roam the house because I am very well-behaved. While I’m a little shy at first, I warm up nicely like a plate of peach cobbler as soon as I get to know you. For me, people and kids are the cream to my peaches; we just go well together like peaches and cream! My foster family like to compliment me on my sweet as peach pie personality as well. I love to sit by your side and get lots of pets! Brushing is peachilious too because it’s kind of like getting pets while getting groomed. You’ll also be saying I’m a peach because I already know “sit” and “down,” and then we can get to the snuggling. My foster mom says I love to lay my head in your lap. It’s my way of saying I’m the peach of your eye. One skill I’m working on is leash-walking. Right now, I’m a little like a peach tree in a breeze as I pull and dart a bit, especially around loud cards, but I know with some practice and love, I’ll be walking just peachy on the leash in no time! Foster Mama is currently teaching me “heel” to help me along. Just like peaches grow together on trees, I have been having fun with my foster dog siblings, so I would do well at a home with other dogs. We all know the best part of Georgia’s springs and summers is peaches, so consider adopting this Peach today!

Jolly greetings, pyr friends! I’m James, and I am jazzed to meet you! I’m a young pyr boy who likes to have joyful zoomies in the backyard. Foster Mama says I’m jubilant when I’m running in the yard, and I do need a six foot fence to keep me safe as I romp around. While I enjoy jetting about the yard, I love coming inside for cuddles too. My foster family says I turn to jelly when I’m getting pets because it’s so relaxing. You’ll even see my jowls turn up into a smile. Because of my jocund and easy-going personality, I get along great with kiddos too. Another jewel in my crown is that I’m housetrained. I can even be left home alone and be well-behaved as long as I have a doggy sibling. In my new home, I’ll need a doggy companion to my best friend because to me, having a doggy brother or sister is like hitting the jackpot! I jive with cats as well if you have kitty-cats in the home. Taking walks is also my jam, and the best part is that I’m excellent on the leash. As we take a jaunt around the neighborhood, you’ll notice how friendly I am to every human and doggo we meet. My tail will do a little jig for them while I wag it side-to-side to show how happy I am. Please consider adopting me today. I know we’ll fit perfectly like interlocking pieces of a jigsaw puzzle!

Hello, I am Sam and ready for the big world! Did you know that a Great Pyrenees’ life goal is to protect everything and give unconditional love at the same time? Yep, that is me. As a one-year-old boy, I am also full of energy! All I want to do is play and have fun, so my previous owner surrendered me. You see, my outside area was way too small, and I got bored and learned how to open the gate to let myself run in a bigger space. Yep, Pyrs are also smart and resourceful. With training and time to learn how to be an inside dog, I will be a fun, loyal, and great companion, just perfect for any family ready to teach active me how to be my best Pyr self!

Just a fun boy ready for life… Sam

Hi! I’m Toby! I’ve just arrived. I’m around one and a half years old and weigh 83 lbs. All I know about myself is that I used to be with chickens on a farm and they and I didn’t get along great and I kept escaping. I ended up in a shelter and now I’m here, ready for my new fur-ever home! People say I’m sweet and like to play with kids. More info coming soon…
