Hellos! I’m Zoey, and I want to share top-of-the-day wishes with everyone! I have quite the story to share about how I landed with GPRA. But, first, I have several kind-hearted humans to thank as I wandered for a long time before finally being caught and placed in a loving foster home. Going from wandering and hungry days and nights to being a couch potato is quite a life change.
Here are a few things that my foster family has learned about me.
“Zoey is shy and submissive. You can see that Zoey wants to be loved, but she is not fully trusting quite yet. Zoey only needs time and patience to build her confidence and trust in humans. She is a sweet soul.”
“Zoey can be a bit protective of her food bowl with other dogs but not with people. However, this behavior may change as she trusts that she will get enough to eat.” *GPRA recommends feeding dogs separately and picking up bowls after eating.
“Zoey is not a barker and does not seem to know the purpose of toys. She is okay with cats and other dogs and likes children.”
“We love seeing Zoey settle more each day. She is starting to do her favorite full-body spread out on our hardwood floors which lets us know she trusts her surroundings. Zoey also does quite well in the car.”
“If it were not for her big fluffiness, Zoey is such a quiet dog that sometimes we forget she’s in the house.”
Pyrly grateful, Zoey

Any chance you made a New Year’s resolution to meet someone new AND get a Great Pyrenees? If so, this 5-year-old, 80 lb. girl is the way to do both at the same time! What a wonderful adventure we could have getting to know each other, trying new foods, sniffing toys at Petsmart, and choosing our spots on the couch. The people at the Carrol County shelter where I lived before GPRA rescued me say I’m good with other dogs and people, two good things, right? We’ll have to figure out the rest of my good traits together, I just don’t know how I became a stray or what happened before the shelter. And truthfully, I really only care about what happens next, after you please email info@greatpyratlanta.com or click “Apply to Adopt” below.

Well, life’s full of surprises, huh? I’m Teddy, an 8-year-old, 80 lb. boy who never expected to be on this famous Great Pyrenees “find-a-family” website. Why? Because I never imagined my mom being unable to safely care for herself, let alone me. Sadly, she has dementia and after she fell recently, we had to face reality. Thankfully our vet knows GPRA helps Pyrs like me find wonderful new homes. In fact, I’m already living with a sweet foster family patiently “holding my paw” as I adjust to this unwanted change. We go for car rides and take snuggle naps together—both of which I love doing—and they let me eat outside in the nice weather! My foster mom says I’m good with other dogs, although I’m not sure what that means because who doesn’t like dogs, especially one this handsome? She’ll happily tell anyone interested in loving this senior guy all you need to know if you’ll please email info@greatpyratlanta.com or click “Apply to Adopt” below.

A picture is worth 1000 words and I’m grateful GPRA’s adding happy words to my life story. I’m Salt, an 8-year-old, 80 lb. boy abandoned in an empty trailer with fleas all over my body, several kittens, and no electricity when it was almost 100 degrees for what felt like forever. An angel drove an hour every day to feed me, let me outside, and keep me company until she couldn’t do it anymore. So now you know I’m house-trained and probably noticed I look a little different from my neighbors on this page. I’m certain I’m part Pyr because I’m loving, calm, gentle to people and other animals, and resilient. How resilient? Well, when I was eight weeks old, someone put me in a bag and threw me out of their car traveling at 70 mph. A kind stranger took me to a vet who even though they couldn’t save my back leg, saved my life. So, I guess I’ve had a few angels in my life and now I need another one. Or maybe a whole family of beautiful people to care and shelter and love me in my senior years? Maybe yours? Please email info@greatpyratlanta.com or click “Apply to Adopt” below and we can meet.

Hey ya’ll, I’m a two-year-old, 80lb Elvis and to paraphrase my namesake, when I get adopted, it’ll be no secret! Of course the real Elvis was talking about getting married but I would swivel my hips and shake all over for a family to protect, a full food bowl, a safe place to sleep, and lots and lots and lots of petting. A peanut butter banana sandwich might be pretty good, too since I need to gain weight. I already have white fur so I do not need a white jumpsuit; I only need someone to “love me tender, love me sweet, never let me go.” If you’re thinking about it, thank you, thank you very much. Hello – I am Coco – one gorgeous 2 year old girl!  All modesty aside I am beautiful both inside and out.  I turned 2 in December of 2017 so I still have lots of energy and I love to play with my foster brother and my foster mom.  I weigh about 80 lbs and toys are some of my very favorite things – cats not so much so I probably don’t need to share my family with one.  I love to ride (the drive thru at McDonald is one of my favorite stops) and going for walks twice a day so I can sniff and patrol.   I take my job guarding very seriously so you don’t have to worry about strangers –  I am already barking to let you know company is here long before they ring the doorbell.  As outgoing as I am I still am very modest so I need a fenced back yard so I can take care of business when I need to.  I love kids but babies and toddlers don’t always remember to not pull me around so it is better if my children are a little older.  If you think we could be happy together contact GPRA today at info@greatpyratlanta.com.

Hey! Woof! I am Poppa, they call me BIG Poppa. I am just a young pup, about 9 mths old and 80 lbs. I am really great in the house and love to play. I am with my new foster family and learning lots about hanging with other dogs, getting to know new people and just having a good time. I have already learned that I like long walks…and then a nap. If you think I might be a great fluffy pup for your family, just let GPRA know at info@greatpyratlanta.com.

Hello all, My name is Danica and even though I am not allowed to drive fast cars like the famous NASCAR driver, Danica Patrick, my heart is racing to find a winning furever family to waive the checkered flag as I cross the threshold into their hearts. So, what can I tell you about myself since you can clearly see I am a beautiful girl?  Well, since it is not polite to ask a lady her age or weight, I can tell you that I am around three years old and I weigh around 80 lbs. It might be a little higher now since I am not a stray anymore. I am a GPRA rescue who loves long walks and is very curious about cats. OK, I chase them but only to play. One more thing, I am also super grateful to GPRA for saving my sight by removing an infected eye and I am not having any issues.  I see PYRfectly with one eye, I just need a place to lay my head at night and a family that will help me refine my house skills.  It will be such a wonderful experience to growth with a family that will share their heart and home with me.  To learn more about me, contact GPRA today at info@greatpyratlanta.com
