It’s in the name! I’m Homer, and I want to go home with you! While being home is my favorite place to be, I’m a very friendly dog. I love every human that I meet! For the humans who take me home, I really need people who are home more often than not as they’re my whole word. Because I love my humans so much, I want to respect their home, and I show my respect by being basically housetrained. Homebodies have friends too, and I love to make friends with other dogs. I used to live with other dogs, so I would enjoy other canine companions at home. So far, on my neighborhood walks, I’ve been excited to greet each dog that I see. Cats are great housemates for me too. When we leave home, though, I’m good on the leash, so we can meet more people and pups at a leisurely pace. For my new home, I’d love a big backyard because I’m a pyr pup with pyr pup energy, and I need to get out my zooms. My foster mama has already started puppy training with me, so I’ve learned “paw” and “no.” We’re already working on “sit” too. I’m a loving, young pyr boy who can’t wait to hang out with my new family. After all, there’s no place like home!

Our main mission at GPRA is to find the right permanent home for Great Pyrenees in distress, whether they are strays or from an overpopulated kill or no-kill shelter. We don’t care how old they are or what their medical condition is because we will make sure they receive a comprehensive medical evaluation, spaying or neutering, and even behavioral training if necessary.

Hello, my pyr-loving darlings! I’m Ambra, and my name means precious jewel. My foster parents think I’m certainly special because of how sweet I am. My name also sort of sounds like amber, which is a type of jewel. I like it because it’s yellow like sunshine, and Foster Mama says I just love being outdoors! Fancy as my name sounds, I came from a farm, so the backyard is such a familiar and fun place to be. Sometimes, though, it’s nice to enjoy the fresh air by going for a walk in the neighborhood. My foster parents say that I’m still learning how to walk on a leash, but like a diamond in the rough, I’ll learn and then be brilliant at it! Ambra can also mean “Ruler of the Jewels” which is funny because I actually prefer following my doggy foster siblings around the house. I’m learning so much from them. They’re teaching me how to be a house dog, and I’m loving it! I’m an absolute gem of pyr, and I can wait to come home with you!

Bailey Blueberry (BB) is here to wish all of you a Happy 2022! As for what I want in our New Year, well, you already know. I want a forever home where I am part of the family. As a younger Pyr, I will benefit from dedicated time and consistent training from my humans because no one has helped me learn how to be my best Pyr self. Therefore, I am in learning mode. I will benefit from exposure to new experiences and humans who will build my trust. GPRA is already helping me, and I am learning a lot in my foster home. So far, this is what GPRA knows about me.
“Bailey Blueberry is a cuddler and love bug. During her cuddle couch time, she loves being in between her humans and will ensure she touches both while falling asleep and then snoring.”
“She is a protector and very smart. She is learning what things she should bark at and which are of no concern. However, her humans need to continue helping her with positive reinforcement and encouraging comments to guide her learning.”
“Bailey Blueberry loves her tennis ball and will toss it in the air and then pounce on it. She is very amusing!”
“BB’s work in progress areas are walking on a leash, cats, and learning how to act properly around other dogs. Her young age and lack of training and exposure are probably the reasons. But, again, dedicated time and consistent training will make a world of difference for Bailey Blueberry. She is smart and will learn quickly.”
Yep, I have some learning to do and am eager to get started with my forever humans.
Your cuddle Pyr, Bailey Blueberry

Hi, there. I am Mr. Rowley and was surrendered to GPRA by someone whose garage I sought shelter in. Imagine walking into your garage one day and finding me. Yes, I am one of those Pyrs that was either dumped or wandered away, and no one looked for me.

GPRA thinks I was abandoned or neglected for some time because my fur was horribly matted, and my dew claws had grown into my pads, which really hurt. However, thanks to GPRA, I am receiving the best vet care and will soon be getting the magic grooming transformation. Just wait, after I get all gussied up, no one will even recognize me!

Like all of the other majestic Great Pyrenees, I, too, am looking for my happily-ever-after! Here is what GPRA knows about me.
“Rowley is previous and very loving.” (Yep, I am so thankful to GPRA for saving me.)
“Rowley comes when you call him and loves to be petted while staring into your eyes.” (It’s my way to thank the kind humans who are helping me.)
“Rowley walks beautifully on a leash and is very friendly to all passing dogs and people that approach him.” (I will be a wonderful and faithful guardian to some lucky human. Are you my fur-ever?)

Pyrly thankful and loving, Mr. Rowley

If you’ve seen my picture, then you know as much about me as I know about myself. The GPRA vet says I’m 8 months old, weigh 64 lbs., and my fur will def grow back. Neither of us know where it went. I overheard the shelter humans say I’m a very sweet, friendly boy who likes other dogs and is great with people. I want a family so much, I wish I could say more to inspire you to please email info@greatpyratlanta.com, click “Contact Us” or choose “Apply to Adopt” below. I might be one of those leaps of faith, but I feel like I’m worth it.
