I’m sure you’ve heard the saying: little girls are made of sugar, spice, and everything nice! This little girl- my name’s Joan- is only sweet. My foster mama says I am made of pure sugar and cuddles! I’ve never met a stranger and will put my head right in their hands because to me, humans are the cherry on top of this sundae called life. As I look to my humans for directions and for treats, I’m a quick learner, so teaching me new skills and tricks has been smoother than soft-serve ice cream! And, since I’m a young pyr lady, I will need to continue to learn basic commands through positive reinforcement a.k.a treats and praise only, please! I used to live outside which means I am learning house manners, including potty-training, but it’s going really well. Just like sprinkles come in all shapes and sizes, I love fuzzy creatures of all kinds. I play so nicely and have so much fun with my foster dog siblings, both male and female. When we play, I show my warm as hot fudge personality by rolling over and showing my belly. Plus, I am excited to meet each and every dog on our neighborhood walks. Similar to whip cream, I’m light and fluffy on the leash! I love to go on walks, and I have very nice walking manners. Foster Mom tells me that I am very gentle and loving towards the kitties as well. When we’re hanging around the house, I love to chase my ball and chew on my Kong toy. As a young pyr pup, chewing is a fun activity. I’m easy like sundae morning, and I can’t wait to come home with you!

Our main mission at GPRA is to find the right permanent home for Great Pyrenees in distress, whether they are strays or from an overpopulated kill or no-kill shelter. We don’t care how old they are or what their medical condition is because we will make sure they receive a comprehensive medical evaluation, spaying or neutering, and even behavioral training if necessary.

Welcome to Pyrbucks! What can I get started for you today? A latte? Perfect, because that’s me, Latte! Just like you have to steam the milk for a latte, I like to get warmed up by running around the backyard. Latte milk has to get nice and frothy, and that’s how my fur will look after I romp around in the grass. As a young pyr, I’m a playful girl! Everyone knows the coffee shop is for sophisticated people, and I’m one sophisticated lady because I’m housetrained. I like to use the doggy door to go potty outside. Lattes have caffeine to give your brain a boost, and Foster Mama says I’m really smart. I learned how to use the doggy door in one day! My humans also tell me that lattes have a soft texture and a sweet taste. I’m like that too because my foster family says I’m sweet and gentle! I think that’s why I get along so well with other dogs. Right now, my best friend is my foster brother who is a male pyr. We love to cuddle and wrestle! I’ve heard lattes are easy to drink, and being easy-going is just a part of my personality. I’m good in the car, and I’m good on the leash! We could drive to Pyrbucks, or we could take a chilly walk in the neighborhood. Either way, you’ll have your hands full of latte, one from the coffee shop and one at the end of your leash. Thanks a latte for considering to adopt me!

Sweet Rosalind! That’s me! My foster mama says I’m soft and cuddly like a bunch of rose petals. Roses also symbolize love, and I live up to my namesake because I have a very loving and affectionate nature. I had puppies in January, and I loved them so much that I hid them in a tree trunk to keep them warm until GPRA rescued us. That’s why they were called the Wise Litter because I made such an intelligent decision! My rosy view of life makes me good with people and other dogs too. In fact, other dogs make me feel all warm and rosy, so I’ll definitely need to go to a home where I can have a young doggy sibling to play with. My human family is just as important to me, though. Everything will come up roses as long as I have my hoomans! I would love a family where someone is home a lot as I make a great companion. The thing that really makes me a rose without a thorn is how good I am on the leash! Foster Mom says I’m super gentle when I walk, so we can have a nice, leisurely stroll around the neighborhood. A rose by any other name would smell as sweet, and but Foster Mama says I’m the sweetest Rose because of my caring personality. While nursing my own puppies, GPRA brought in an oprhan litter, and I nursed them too. As you can see, I have a lot of love to give, and I know I’ll bring the roses to your cheeks if you take me home!
