Jalapeño, here! While my name sounds spicy, I’m all sweetness in a small package. My GPRA friends say I’m on the smaller side for a pyr. When meeting new people, I’m a little shy, but just like jalapeños make you feel warm inside, I warm up to my humans quickly. Foster Mom says I’m good with people and kids. Besides snuggling them close, another way I show my family that I love them is by being housetrained. I haven’t had an accident yet, and I’m learning how to use the doggy door. I know jalapeños have to be transported in trucks to the grocery store, and just like my pepper namesake, I’m a good car rider too! It’s a fun way to get to know my new human friends. As a young pyr girl, I also enjoy playing outside. Jalapeños grow out in the garden, after all! While jalapeños don’t grow over fences, this Jalapeño can reach up to the counter. I do counter surf sometimes, but I’m a puppy and can be definitely trained through positive reinforcement only, meaning praise and treats, to stop this behavior. My favorite activity is playing with my chew toys and doggy toys. I just love them! I’ve heard jalapeños grow well with all kinds of other plants just like I do well with other dogs. It’s because I’m so friendly and playful! Jalapeños also go well with a lot of different dishes, and I get along with female dogs, male dogs, and small dogs alike. Foster Mama thinks I’d even be okay with cats because I ignore them on our walks. I’m all  peppered up to meet my new family who will love me and help me grow. Consider adopting me today!

Hi there. I am the sweet La Luna and a very special Great Pyrenees because I am deaf. But, no worries, I am learning to understand my humans through hand gestures and eye contact. These early training techniques are essential because it helps my humans keep me safe.
Currently, I am with my Pyr-wonderful foster mom. She says that I brighten everyone’s day with my kind eyes and sweet Pyrenees smile. So, here are a few more things my foster family has learned about me.
“Luna is very curious and loves people. She always wants to be right next to her humans.” (If you are seeking a cuddle pup, I am your girl!)
“Luna certainly enjoys her food, but she is more motivated by physical praise.” (There is nothing better than seeing and knowing that I am pleasing my humans with good manners and sweetness.)
“Luna has a moderate energy level. She enjoys walks and running in the yard and is also perfectly content sitting next to you on the couch.”
“Although Luna has not had formal leash training, she is easy to walk. When meeting other dogs, she is curious and wags her tail. On occasion, she may bark because she is happy. “
“Luna is house-trained. Normally, she will go to the door to let you know she is ready to go outside.” (Yes, I try to be a good girl in the house.)
“Waking up Luna every morning is so wholesome. Since she does not hear me coming, I approach slowly and gently pet her to wake her. When she finally wakes up, she is so excited to see me.” (A loving touch and gentle petting is a beautiful start to every day! Thank you!)
Your Pyr-sweet girl, Luna

Hi! I am Big Boy! Well, I am not a big boy yet, but I’m working on it. As a young, neglected, and abandoned young Pyr, the early months of my life were not good. Sadly, my family left me behind when they moved, which has me wondering why they even got me in the first place. However, that’s enough about my past. It’s time to turn the page and start again. The good news is that I am learning that humans can be kind and loving, and I am trusting and settling into my foster home very quickly.
Here’s what GPRA knows about me:
“Big Boy is smart, energetic, and playful. He has a lot of puppy energy in him.”
“It was sad to see him so terrified when his foster humans picked him up. But, after hearing kind and encouraging words, Big Boy was ready to trust and engage.” (I have learned not to trust things, but my foster humans were so kind to me that I could not help but feel safe and secure!)
“Big Boy will benefit from continued leash work as he is still learning. He is also learning the ‘shake’ command and knows the ‘sit’ and ‘no’ commands.” (Yep, I’m just a youngster, do you have the time and patience to help me learn?)
“Big Boy is house-trained. And, sometimes, he will also go to the door to let you know that he has to go outside.” (I try to be a good boy, too!)
“My favorite thing about Big Boy is his loving and playful personality. He will cuddle up with you as well as chase and play with you in the yard.” (Aww, thank you. I love you, too!)
Pyr-ready to trust and play, Big Boy

Hello favorite humans! My name is Teddy G! In my opinion, the ‘G’ stands for ‘Great,’ ‘Gorgeous,’ and ‘Grand’! However, it can also stand for ‘Growing,’ as I am still learning every day!

My Pyr-best foster parents have taught me a lot. Here are a few insights into Pyr-fun me.

“Teddy G. is happy, loving, and smart. He loves walks and is happiest on hikes and adventures with his humans, but he’s not all-go or non-stop.” (Whether relaxing indoors or exploring outside, I am happy as long as we are together!)

“Teddy G. has shown some signs of early resource guarding, but with help, we can curb these tendencies.” (As a puppy, I need to learn not to protect the things I cherish, such as toys and food. With time, playing the trade game, and consistency, I will grow out of these habits!)

“Teddy G loves treats. He knows ‘sit’ and is very proud of it! We are still working on ‘off’ and ‘stay’!” (I’m very treat motivated, so let’s keep learning together!)

“Teddy G is very polite when initiating playtime with the kitty and gets along with our guests. He also thinks brush time is a game, though this will probably improve with training.” (I love to play with my humans and my fellow furry housemates!)

In the beginning, it will be best if I am not around young children until I can learn to be my Pyr-self.
Ready for the big world in a loving fur-ever home!

Pyrly Great, Gorgeous and Grand, ❤️ Teddy G.

Do you have yummy food at your house? This is important because the GPRA vet says I’m almost just shy of two years old and need a lot of yummy food to weigh more than my current 50 lbs. The nice people who found me on their porch say I’m good with strangers, kids, cats, and dogs. Unfortunately, their dogs don’t like me so GPRA’s helping me find a new home. The only other things I know about myself is that it’s OK to hold my collar and it’s SUPER OK to pet me anywhere. Dogs who get pet all the time sure are lucky. And people who can snuggle with a loving Pyr who’s so grateful for being rescued are really lucky, too. If you please email info@greatpyratlanta.com, click “Contact Us” or choose “Apply to Adopt” below, then maybe I can be that Pyr and you can be that person?

Choose me and if you keep my name, it’ll be summer all the time! I’m a year old and a mere 50 lbs., so far. Some very nice strangers have been feeding and petting me but now it’s time to find my forever family. They say I’m a good girl who showed up knowing how to use the doggy door and walk on a leash. Supposedly humans like it when dogs do these things the same way they like dogs to be playful, calm, and not afraid of things. I check those boxes, if they’re on your Pyr wish list. Oh, and on the outside chance you have goats, we should get along fine. I’m very happy the people I’m “visiting” never asked me to go in a crate, I don’t know if I’d like that or not. However, I do like chewing on bones and balls. There’s one thing I’m not sure of, and it could mean I’ll need an extra understanding family: my temporary family says maybe my ears don’t work. Personally, I disagree because it feels awesome when people scratch them! Still, since I respond more to stomping on the floor than sounds, could be I’m the perfect dog for a noisy household! If you please email info@greatpyratlanta.com, click “Contact Us” or choose “Apply to Adopt” below, the GPRA folks will probably need more. Besides, my paws are tired from typing all these words one letter at time. Heading out to play instead!

Hi! I’m Layla and I’m only 15 months old. Unfortunately my dad is getting older and his declining health is making it so difficult to take care of me. So I’m here looking for a new, loving home. My dad says I’m great with other dogs and kids. I love to play and have lots of energy. More info coming soon…
