Our main mission at GPRA is to find the right permanent home for Great Pyrenees in distress, whether they are strays or from an overpopulated kill or no-kill shelter. We don’t care how old they are or what their medical condition is because we will make sure they receive a comprehensive medical evaluation, spaying or neutering, and even behavioral training if necessary.

Hey there, My name is Polly and I am around a year old and currently at 40 lbs.  My parents are believed to be possibly a Great Pyrenees and Golden Retriever.   I was found along with my brother, Ellis, by some really great people who wanted to make sure we were safe.  They helped us get shelter, warm meals, and medical attention.  While we stayed at the shelter together just waiting for our family to come find us, we quickly lost hope that they would not come for us.  Then, when all hope was lost, our run door opened and we were meet with the biggest hugs and smiles from two amazing volunteer that took us on our freedom ride to GPRA.  Both of us have been given extra special attention from the Veterinary office and lots of love from volunteers.  We both have been placed in wonderful foster homes and I am settling in well.  I am doing good with my fosters other dog and cats and 2 legged children.  I love to give kisses and snuggle.  If you believe that I am going to be the missing piece in your family, contact GPRA today for more information on how to add me to your family.

Hi, My name is Zoey F.  I am a young girl close to 7 months old.  My story is a little painful to talk about so I will give you the quick cliff-note version.  I was hit by a car and could no longer walk.  Both my back legs were fractured and one hip needed surgery.  With the help of GPRA, and their amazing doctors and volunteers, I am slowing learning how to walk again and my future looks bright!  I am with an amazing foster who is helping me learn all about life and giving me daily massages to help me heal.   I am expected to make a full recovery and when I do, I will be so happy and excited that I would love to take rides to the park, take long strolls on cool evenings and even hit up the local ice cream shop.  I am really excited about what my future holds and I hope it is with you.  Contact GPRA today for more information at info@greatpyratlanta.com
