Our main mission at GPRA is to find the right permanent home for Great Pyrenees in distress, whether they are strays or from an overpopulated kill or no-kill shelter. We don’t care how old they are or what their medical condition is because we will make sure they receive a comprehensive medical evaluation, spaying or neutering, and even behavioral training if necessary.

Do you enjoy traveling? Me, too! In fact, that’s why this 1.5-year-old, 100 lb boy is now a GPRA rescue looking for a new family. My buddy Bailey and I loved wandering and eventually, our family just gave us to the county shelter rather than paying another reclaim fee. I wish I could tell you more but I’m counting on a foster family to teach me about, well, me. Since most Pyrs are gentle, loving, protective, and snuggly, I’m hoping the odds are in my favor and I’m already that kind of dog. I just need the right person, or family, to help me stop roaming. Or to roam with me on the other end of a really secure leash! Please email info@greatpyratlanta.com or click “Apply to Adopt” below if that’s you.

Well, Hello! I am Virgil! A big sweet boy about 2 years old and 100 lbs. I’m a little on the thin side so I sure won’t mind a few extra meals! I hear all sorts of people that meet me saying how wonderful, sweet and handsome I am. And yup! They are all correct! I am super excited to be here with GPRA and find my fur-ever home. I hope it will be you! I’m ready so please email info@greatpyratlanta.com or click “Apply to Adopt” below if you have room for me in your heart and home.

I’m Goldie, a 6.5-year-old 100 lb girl with tons of great things to tell you about myself and something else you may have guessed from my picture: I’m blind. Fortunately, I can sit on command, potty outside, enjoy my walks, make friends with other dogs, and love cats and kids without being able to see. And, just like lots of dogs with two good eyes, I’m a little standoffish with strangers, afraid of loud noises such as thunder and fireworks, and I spook easily. It’s flattering to hear people say I’m an easy-going, obedient, playful, quiet, gentle, and friendly family dog. If you’re willing to meet me, and your home sounds like a safe place for me, please email info@greatpyratlanta.com or click “Apply to Adopt” below.

Hello everyone, I’m Cleo D., a 5-year-old, 100 lb. girl GPRA saved from a shelter and ticking clock. So, to show my gratitude, I’m pushing past my slight shyness to share a few things about myself to hopefully find my furever home really soon. I’m pretty laid back, housetrained, like other dogs, and follow my foster mom everywhere. Brushing is OK but not super fond of having my backside groomed, and I’m still getting used to being home alone. I haven’t destroyed anything, I just prefer company and for some reason, I’m bonding faster with women than men. Oh, one tiny thing that may surprise you, my foster mom says I snore. I don’t know what that means but I like those giant dog cushions. So, if snoring means we can’t share a bed, that’s OK, I’d still like to meet you. Want to meet me? Just please email info@greatpyratlanta.com or click “Apply to Adopt” below.

Hello, I’m Bruce, a 14 month old, 100 lb boy really trying to put his best paw forward. My owner finally got the hint about how much I prefer living inside and asked GPRA to find me a new home. He wanted a livestock guardian Pyr but I’m house trained, great with kids, love strangers, have fun with other dogs, playful with cats and want to be in the middle of the human activity, not in a pasture. So, it just didn’t work out. Hopefully I’m describing myself well because I am really ready for my forever family who understand my inside nature. Want to try? Can we maybe at least meet for milk bones and a play-date? Oh, and if you already have a dog, please bring him or her, too. Just email information@greatpyratlanta.com or click the “Apply to Adopt” button below.

Cómo estás? Cómo te va? Que pasa? (How are you? How’s it going? What’s up?) I am the sweet shy boy Baby. I am 10 months old and 100 lbs and I arrived at GPRA with my sister Luz Nieve. We lived on a really nice farm but didn’t get as much attention as our family wanted so they gave a call to GPRA and here we are! I am a bit shy until I get to know you. I have a little more courage when I’m with my sister Luz. I am very gentle and loving, and really want a family of my own. I get along with dogs and cats and people and children. I just need a little more experience going places and doing new things. I can’t wait to share my love with a family of my own. My sister and I will make a great addition to your home!
