Sanabell
Hellos. My name is Sanabell, but my foster mom just calls me Belle. She tells me all the time, I am beautiful and ‘belle’ is beautiful in French, and France is where my ancestors are from.
My former family moved and couldn’t take me with them. That made me very sad, but the folks at GPRA found me and well, here I am! I am ready to open my heart and paws to a family that can give me as much love as I give them – which is a lot!
I love to go on walks, and only pull when there is some good sniffing to be had – and I am a gold-star sniffer! I like to explore my surroundings, and am respectful of furniture. I was so excited to be in a home again I jumped on the sofa, but when my foster mom said down, I did, and decided to curl up at her feet for a rest instead. She told me I was a good girl for listening – but I didn’t tell her the real reason was because it felt really good to be under the breeze of the ceiling fan. I mean – I’m a Pyr – I don’t want her to think I listen all the time!
I like to be where my humans are. If you work from home, I will be your best office mate. (I just won’t get you coffee – I have double dew-claws, not opposable thumbs!)
I am friendly and loving, but sometimes I get so happy and excited that I worry if you have small children I might knock a toddler over, and I love people so much I wouldn’t want to make a little one scared, so I think older kids would be best. If you are an active family that likes hiking – all the better! I love riding in the car and going on hikes!
When I see other dogs, I want to play! My foster mom is gonna try to get me a one-on-one play date with another dog to see how things go, so watch this space! As for cats and other small creatures, I will want to chase them and bark at them, so best not to share a home with them.
I love to give and receive love, and once I feel comfortable with you, I will roll over for tummy rubs. I know some basic commands: sit, paw, down – and we are working on more every day.

Our main mission at GPRA is to find the right permanent home for Great Pyrenees in distress, whether they are strays or from an overpopulated kill or no-kill shelter. We don’t care how old they are or what their medical condition is because we will make sure they receive a comprehensive medical evaluation, spaying or neutering, and even behavioral training if necessary.
