My Story

Hi, I’m Pete. 🐾

I’m the kind of dog who believes life is better with a best friend by your side—preferably very close by your side. I’m what the humans lovingly call a ā€œstage 5 clinger.ā€ If you sit down, I’ll be there. If you need a hug, I’ve got you covered. Kisses? Unlimited. I just really love being near my people.

I’m a friendly guy all around. New faces don’t scare me—I’m happy to meet strangers, volunteers, and clinic staff alike. When I see other dogs walking by my kennel, my tail starts wagging right away. I’ve done well with female dogs, and while my experience with male dogs is still a mystery, I’m always curious and interested.

Kennel life has been hard on me. I don’t love being confined, and I’ll admit I bark more than I should because I just want out and with someone. I’m much happier when I can stretch my legs, soak up attention, and feel like part of a family. I’m mostly housebroken, I eat my meals like a champ, and I’m polite about my food. You can touch me, pet me, hug me—I’m all in.

I walk okay on a leash, though I could use a little training to become a true pro. Car rides are getting easier for me too. The first time, I needed some help getting in, but now I’m improving—and I even figured out how to make myself more comfortable by climbing into the trunk for extra space. (Pro tip: don’t leave bagels unattended. I may have snagged one when no one was looking. I regret nothing.)

I’m looking for a foster or forever home where I don’t have to be alone so much, where someone understands that my heart is big and I just want to share it. If you’re searching for a loyal shadow, a professional cuddler, and a dog who will love you with his whole being—I’m your guy.

Love,
Pete šŸ’™

Donate to Great Pyrenees Rescue of Atlanta

Our main mission at GPRA is to find the right permanent home for Great Pyrenees in distress, whether they are strays or from an overpopulated kill or no-kill shelter. We don’t care how old they are or what their medical condition is because we will make sure they receive a comprehensive medical evaluation, spaying or neutering, and even behavioral training if necessary.
