My Story

Hi there… I’m Nelson Oak, and I have a confession to make—I don’t understand why I’m still waiting. 💛

Everyone who spends time with me says I’m a hidden gem, and honestly, I think they’re right. I’m a sweet, gentle boy who just wants to make people happy. Whether we’re heading out for a walk or just hanging out together, I’m happiest when I’m by your side.

Walks are one of my favorite things! I stroll nicely on leash, pass other dogs without any fuss, and enjoy taking in all the sights and smells. Once I’ve finished my important business, I have a funny little tradition—I stop, flop right onto my back, and politely request belly rubs. They are one of my greatest joys in life! I also love being brushed… especially if you rub my tummy while you’re at it.

If you kneel down to say hello, I’ll probably sit right in front of you and lean in for some snuggles. I adore attention and seem to make friends everywhere I go. The volunteers tell me I’m incredibly sweet, gentle, handsome, and that I have one of the happiest personalities around. They even think I’d do wonderfully with children because I’m so patient and affectionate.

Right now, I’m staying in boarding while I wait for someone to notice me. It’s okay… but what I really dream about is a foster or forever home where I can trade my kennel for a comfy bed, belly rubs whenever I ask for them, and a family to love.

I’ve been waiting so patiently. Maybe you’ve been waiting for a dog just like me.

Could we be each other’s happily ever after? 🐾

Donate to Great Pyrenees Rescue of Atlanta

Our main mission at GPRA is to find the right permanent home for Great Pyrenees in distress, whether they are strays or from an overpopulated kill or no-kill shelter. We don’t care how old they are or what their medical condition is because we will make sure they receive a comprehensive medical evaluation, spaying or neutering, and even behavioral training if necessary.
