How do you do? I’m Mary Morstan, and my name means “beloved.” My name is perfect for me because my foster mom loves me very much. She says I’m a sweet, calm, and loving girl. I’m a velcro dog too, so I want to be wherever you are. Being my beloved does take some time. New people, new things, new sounds, new places can all be really scary, and I need time and your love and comfort to help me realize it’s all okay. When I’m walking on the leash, I look to my foster mom to tell me, “It’s okay” if something new startles me. I walk slowly and cautiously to make sure I’m not surprised. My GPRA friends say my collar always needs to be properly fitted before I walk to make sure I’m secure in case I get scared of things like cars or trucks. Foster Mama is definitely my beloved, and my other beloved is my foster dog brother who is my size and a confident, established dog in the home. As much as I crave human companionship, I need a doggy sibling as well; I’m good with cats too if you have one of those. I look to my doggy foster brother as my leader, and he helps to teach me about the world too. One thing my foster dog brother and foster mom are teaching me is how to get in and out of the car. I’m still learning but doing better every day. Another skill I’m slowly picking up on is meeting new people and having new people visit our house. I like slow, gentle movements and soft voices. Once I get to know you, you’ll soon become my beloved too, and then I’ll enjoy nice and slow head and necks pets. While I haven’t met any kids up close yet, I do seem interested in them from afar. My name also means “star of the sea,” and I’m already a star pupil in a few areas. I can be left alone uncrated without being destructive because as long as I have my foster dog brother, I feel happy and safe. Also, I’m a shining star at going potty outside. And, I get a gold star for grooming too because I’m so tolerant of being brushed and bathed. Please take me home and let me be the star in your sky! I know I’ll twinkle bright!
