Little is known about Jasper and me because both of us lived outside and came from an Alabama shelter. I heard GPRA volunteers say that Pyrs like us only need a little patience to learn new routines and house training, consistency to guide us when unsure of new surroundings, and love to build our trust. Great Pyrenees are very confident and smart dogs. Even though we may have spent part of our lives living outside, Pyrs successfully transition to inside dogs and become devoted, wonderful companions. With the right amount of exercise and attention, Jasper and I will most likely curl up on the softest beds in the house and doze the day away while also guarding the home front. Pyrs ask for very little but give so much. If you are willing to provide us with your time and loving care, we will be your faithful Pyrs until the end… Jaxon

Our main mission at GPRA is to find the right permanent home for Great Pyrenees in distress, whether they are strays or from an overpopulated kill or no-kill shelter. We don’t care how old they are or what their medical condition is because we will make sure they receive a comprehensive medical evaluation, spaying or neutering, and even behavioral training if necessary.
