My Story

Hi, I’m Gus! 🐾

I’m a happy, playful guy with a big heart and so much love to give. I enjoy being with my people, going for walks, hopping in the car for an adventure, or stretching my legs on a run. I know my basic manners too—I can sit, stay, come, and lie down when asked. My people say I’m obedient, easy to walk, and a wonderful companion.

I’m house-trained and will politely let you know when I need to go outside by pawing at the door. At bedtime, I’m happy to sleep in my crate, and I do just fine relaxing there if you need to be away for a few hours.

One of my favorite things? Cats! I get along great with them and have never had any issues. I’m also gentle with people. I may be a little cautious when meeting someone new, but I’ve never shown aggression toward people and enjoy making friends at my own pace.

I’m looking for a home that understands I have one important need: I need to be your one and only dog. While I can calmly pass other dogs in public, living with other dogs just isn’t the right fit for me. I’ll be happiest in a home where I don’t have to share my space with canine siblings, and where I can soak up all the love and attention for myself.

I do have a hip issue and previously had an umbilical hernia repaired, but neither keeps me from enjoying life. I also have transferable Trupanion pet insurance, which is a wonderful bonus for my future family.

Right now I’m staying in boarding, and while everyone is taking great care of me, what I really dream about is a foster or forever home where I can relax, settle in, and show you what a loyal best friend I can be.

If you’re looking for a friendly, affectionate, medium-energy companion who will happily be your shadow, I just might be the perfect match. I can’t wait to meet you!

Donate to Great Pyrenees Rescue of Atlanta

Our main mission at GPRA is to find the right permanent home for Great Pyrenees in distress, whether they are strays or from an overpopulated kill or no-kill shelter. We don’t care how old they are or what their medical condition is because we will make sure they receive a comprehensive medical evaluation, spaying or neutering, and even behavioral training if necessary.
