Hellos! I am the shy Gretchen, but I want to find a fur-ever home, so I’m trying to be a brave girl by introducing myself to you with the help of the humans who know me. Here goes…
“Gretchen is a SWEET, SWEET girl and has been through full obedience classes with the Pups with Purpose Program that involves inmates in training rescue dogs. (Yep, this Program is a win: win for rescue pups and inmates who are seeking help to re-enter society.)
“Gretchen is house trained and knows many commands.” (At only 11 months, I am well on my way to being the best-mannered Pyr girl around!)
“Gretchen lacks confidence and needs more socialization. She can be timid around humans.” (Due to a lack of human interaction/socialization outside of the Program, I’m a pup that needs a lot more interaction and engagement with the outside world to reach my full potential. With loving, trusting, and patient owners who will conscientiously work on this with me, I will work hard to please you and overcome my trust issues. Do you think you can help me?)
“Gretchen LOVES, LOVES, LOVES other dogs. She is extremely playful and good with cats.” (I love to play and run around with my puppy pals! As for cats, I only saw them in a shelter, but my humans think that I will be fine with cats. Just introduce us slowly and keep your eyes on us until you know all is okay. Do you have dogs at your home wishing for a fur-sister?)
Your Pyrly shy but loving girl, Gretchen

Donate to Great Pyrenees Rescue of Atlanta

Our main mission at GPRA is to find the right permanent home for Great Pyrenees in distress, whether they are strays or from an overpopulated kill or no-kill shelter. We don’t care how old they are or what their medical condition is because we will make sure they receive a comprehensive medical evaluation, spaying or neutering, and even behavioral training if necessary.
