Hi, I am the sweet and timid Dixie. My foster family says that I am quiet and still unsure of my surroundings. The leash thing is terrifying to me, and I will pancake out. No worries, other Pyrs have come into GPRA doing the same thing. With time, patient owners help Pyrs like me to feel secure and build our trust. In no time, I will get the leash thing conquered! Until then, a secure, fenced-in backyard will be an excellent place for me to get daily exercise.

I’m great with other dogs, ignore the felines, and adore the smaller humans. I’m also getting the housetraining thing figured out and will go to the door to let my humans know it is time to take me out.

Brushing makes me very happy because I am not used to such loving care and attention. You see, my sister and I came from an awful situation. The love thing from humans is all very new to me, but I like it.

With time, you will see me blossom into a regal, confident, and happy Great Pyrenees. Are you ready to join me on my journey?
Pyrly grateful, Dixie

Donate to Great Pyrenees Rescue of Atlanta

Our main mission at GPRA is to find the right permanent home for Great Pyrenees in distress, whether they are strays or from an overpopulated kill or no-kill shelter. We don’t care how old they are or what their medical condition is because we will make sure they receive a comprehensive medical evaluation, spaying or neutering, and even behavioral training if necessary.
