My Story

Hi there! I’m Bentley, but my foster mom calls me Henry. I’m a big, loving guy who’s always up for cuddles, and I’m especially known for my affection—if you’re nearby, I’m probably trying to get close! I’m a Pyr at heart, which means I’m a pro at barking and howling—especially if I spot something exciting, like a neighbor’s dog or a new scent. I love my food too—honestly, anything you offer me, I’ll devour it!

I’m super smart and learning new things every day. My foster mom has been teaching me commands like “sit,” “stay,” and “hug,” which I think is pretty fun because I love giving hugs! I’ve been working on my leash skills, and while I do pull sometimes, I’m getting better each day, especially with the help of my foster brother, Bear. We take long walks together, and I really enjoy getting out and exploring. Four miles a day is my kind of routine!

I’m also house-trained—never had an accident in the house—and I let my foster mom know when I need to go outside, usually by barking at the door. When I’m not outside, I just want to be by my people, whether we’re hanging out on the couch or having some quiet time. I’m a huge fan of being brushed and even let my foster mom brush my teeth! I’m not a fan of my tail being brushed, but I’ll let it slide if we go slow.

Though I love people and kids, I can be a little selective about some dogs. I do well with my foster brother, Bear. I also do fine with cats, cars, and cyclists during our walks, so I’m pretty chill about most things in my environment.

I’d love to find a home where I can be the loyal, snuggly companion I’m meant to be. I might bark a lot, so I’d be happiest in a place with space, maybe on a farm or in a rural area where I can keep an eye on things. I promise I’ll love you forever and be your best cuddle buddy—so if you’re ready for a fun, loving, and food-motivated buddy, I’m your guy!

Donate to Great Pyrenees Rescue of Atlanta

Our main mission at GPRA is to find the right permanent home for Great Pyrenees in distress, whether they are strays or from an overpopulated kill or no-kill shelter. We don’t care how old they are or what their medical condition is because we will make sure they receive a comprehensive medical evaluation, spaying or neutering, and even behavioral training if necessary.
