My Story
Hi! I’m Stetson, and I’m looking for my forever home! Right now, I’m living in a wonderful foster home where I’m doing great while I’m preparing to meet my new family.
I’m a big, strong, and affectionate guy who loves cuddling on the couch and even in bed (I’ll make sure to keep you warm!). My foster mom says I’m a protector, which means I’m always watching out for my loved ones. I’m a smart boy and super easy to train—I know commands like sit, wait, down, touch, focus, off (though I can be a little stubborn with that one.)
I’m getting better every day on my walks. I wear a no-pull harness for our walks and that works best for me.
I’m a food lover, especially when it’s time for breakfast and dinner! I eat quickly, so I use a special slow-feed bowl. I’m not protective over my food at all and will sit before you give it to me. I do a little bit of guarding around my favorite bone, which we’re working on. I’m not a counter surfer—no stealing food here!
I love the people I meet and I’m perfectly content with adults and visitors! I’m house trained and have a bathroom schedule that works for me. I love belly rubs, petting, and being brushed.
I’m not the most adventurous when it comes to cars—I don’t like them much—but I get in without help if I need to. I’m also a bit afraid of big trucks, like box trucks or garbage trucks, but I’m working on getting past that. I’m not afraid of storms though—those don’t bother me at all!
I love playing outside, especially with my foster my mom. I’ve got a lot of energy for walks, but I’m just as happy to curl up on the couch with you for a good snuggle. I even sleep on my back sometimes, and you might catch me with my paw up in the air like I’m reaching for a treat. It’s my special way of showing I’m comfortable and happy!
My ideal home would be one where I am the only dog, can get lots of love and attention from people who are patient, understanding, and will continue to work with me. I’d thrive in a secure, fenced yard where I can safely run and play. I’d be happiest with a family who enjoys both outdoor activities and cozy cuddle sessions on the couch. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion with a big heart, I’m your guy!

Our main mission at GPRA is to find the right permanent home for Great Pyrenees in distress, whether they are strays or from an overpopulated kill or no-kill shelter. We don’t care how old they are or what their medical condition is because we will make sure they receive a comprehensive medical evaluation, spaying or neutering, and even behavioral training if necessary.
