It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s…Skye! Hi, everybody, I’m Skye, and I’m a big pyr boy who is just waiting to come home with you. My foster mama says my intelligence is sky-high. I know so many commands like sit, stay, lie down, up, no, and give paw just to name a few! And, of course, I’m housetrained. To tell you I need to go potty, I will either go to the door or come to you. I’m also a good boy when left home alone for a few hours. Another sky-tastic thing about me is that I’m excellent on the leash. I walk right by your side! On leash, I’m super friendly to every human and every dog that I meet. As far as my love for my humans, the sky is the limit! I love being with my family, and belly rubs are my absolute favorite. Because humans are the sun to my sky, I am protective of them, so I need slow introductions to anyone who comes to our home. My foster mom can tell you that one of the best ways for me to spend time with my people is on a car ride. It’s just so much fun! I even loved being brushed because that means I get to snuggle close to you. Consider adopting me today because with me in your life, it will be clear, blue skies from here on out!

Our main mission at GPRA is to find the right permanent home for Great Pyrenees in distress, whether they are strays or from an overpopulated kill or no-kill shelter. We don’t care how old they are or what their medical condition is because we will make sure they receive a comprehensive medical evaluation, spaying or neutering, and even behavioral training if necessary.

Winter Greetings, my pyr friends! Us pyrs sure love this chilly weather. My foster mama says I absolutely adore being outside in the cold and exploring the backyard. It’s fun to bark out there too! Classic pyr, am I right? I have some new foster doggy siblings, and I enjoy being around them as well. When Foster Mom wants me to come back inside, she calls my name, and I listen and go to her. See, I’m a good boy! Because I listen so well, I know I’ll be house-trained in no time. I’m almost there! In the house, I just want to be near my humans. Everyone who meets me talks about how sweet and affectionate I am. They even say I’m the epitome of the pyr’s nickname: The Gentle Giant. Gosh, I’m blushing! Being a gentle giant, I am very good with kids; I love those little critters. I can’t wait to come home with you, and guess what? I’m an excellent car rider, so I’ll jump right in!

Louie Linus, here! With a name like mine, “L” has got to be my favorite letter! Funny enough, my foster mama says I’m laid back. I like to lumber about the yard and lean my head down to sniff at things. I’m gentle like a lullaby too. I can’t sing you to sleep, but I will stay by your side. Foster Mom noticed I like to follow my foster family around the house like a lamb after his shepherd. I’m also quiet like a little leaf falling from a tree. As long as you’re lavishing attention on me in the form of chin scratches, I’m content. When we’re not lazing in the living room, I do love to stretch my legs and go on a walk. I’m a likable lad who can’t wait to get ladles of love and extra helpings of snuggles from my new family!
