I made it! I made it to GPRA! Pyrs everywhere say their humans are the best and now this 2-year-old, 84 lb. boy can find his own GPRA family. When the shelter staff kissed me goodbye, they whispered a lot of nice things in my ears, but they forgot to tell me riding in a car might shake up my stomach. Yeah, that was kinda’ embarrassing. I hope it won’t happen again but if I am one of those Pyrs prone to car sickness, I bet your vet has some medicine for me. Oh, wait, I almost forgot to tell you the nice things they did say! While we hugged, I heard them say I’m good with people, I get along with other dogs, and I’m very sweet. Do those words mean something to you? If so, please email info@greatpyratlanta.com, click “Contact Us” or choose “Apply to Adopt” below and when we meet, you can explain them to me!

Our main mission at GPRA is to find the right permanent home for Great Pyrenees in distress, whether they are strays or from an overpopulated kill or no-kill shelter. We don’t care how old they are or what their medical condition is because we will make sure they receive a comprehensive medical evaluation, spaying or neutering, and even behavioral training if necessary.

Thankfully my name is beautiful now because it may take a little time for my gorgeous Pyr fur to grow past all the matts GPRA found on me. The vet says I’m 2-years-old and weigh 69 lbs. There’s also a rumor I’m good with other dogs and like people. Hey, I have an idea! Instead of trading in rumors, you could please email info@greatpyratlanta.com, click “Contact Us” or choose “Apply to Adopt” below and get the facts right from the source—me! I’d love to get to know you, and anyone else who lives with you, while I’m getting to know myself.

My smile says it all: I love to play so much, I once tried to get another dog to play with me but it turned out to be a dog statue, lol! At 2-years-old and 60 lbs., I’m ready to grow up and out, if you know what I mean. You can probably tell by my windblown coat I love to run and goof around, especially with people and other dogs. I heard a human describe my behavior as “puppy brain” and thought, “Well, duh, I’m just a big puppy!” Now that I think about it, maybe they mean I need a family to help me learn good dog manners and gentle ways to play. Do you know how to teach these things? More important, if you give training treats as rewards, please email info@greatpyratlanta.com, click “Contact Us” or choose “Apply to Adopt” below. I love treats so I bet we get along great.

You’ve heard of Fay Wray and Faye Dunaway, and now here’s your chance to have your very own Faye! This 2-year-old, 82 lb. girl with a famous name and huggable figure is very happy to be with GPRA. I know Pyrs are brave by nature, but I’ll admit, I was a little scared at the shelter. I didn’t really give the nice caretakers a chance to learn much about me, including what I’m like with other dogs. I cooperated with the humans, so that’s good news for my to-be-found foster and family, right? I guess emailing info@greatpyratlanta.com clicking “Contact Us” or choosing “Apply to Adopt” below is doing what people call “taking a leap of faith.” For me, I’d be happy taking a leap into your lap.

Hi there, I’m Sampson, a 2 yr old 78-lb fella who is happy to be with GPRA! See my big smile? I’m a pretty happy and chill guy that is great in the house. I had a couple of oopsies when I was left for hours and hours and hours. I found the remote and redecorated it a little bit. No one told me they needed all of those buttons. I sure won’t do that again. Well, maybe I might. I could work on knowing some of those things that maybe you don’t want redecorated. I love to ride in the car, and go and sit at those things they call garden cafés. Someone always drops something yummy and the breeze is nice. I like most dogs that I meet but I get a little confused about if I should play or protect my people. I vote for play! So, how about a dog park? I’m great at snuggling on the sofa too! Either option works for me, just please email info@greatpyratlanta.com or click either “Contact Us” or “Apply to Adopt” below.

I’m 2-years-old and weigh 84 lbs. so I’m your girl if you’re looking for a little older and probably wiser. I say probably only because I’m still discovering who I am and what makes me extra special. I know being a Great Pyrenees means I’m part of a proud, loyal breed that fearlessly protects their humans one minute then jumps into their laps to cuddle the next. If you please email info@greatpyratlanta.com or click either “Contact Us” or “Apply to Adopt” below, the awesome volunteers will tell you all the endearing things they’ve learned about me since I dictated this short story. Afterall, I’m just getting started and I’m excited to find my foster and then my forever family.

I’m ready for a family, so if you’re ready for a 2-year-old, 81 lb. Pyr, we might be a perfect match. My foster mom calls me a Velcro dog because I attach myself to anyone who will pet me. Oh, and she just reminded me to tell you I’m house-trained, super friendly, and can be left home alone for hours. I like playing with other dogs and seem to get along best with the more submissive ones. I’m learning leash manners it just takes me a little while to settle down because I love going for walks! Also, I’m a very self-confident Pyr so a family willing to patiently and lovingly teach how to follow the rules. So far, I haven’t barked a lot but I likely to alert you to anything I think might hurt you. Well, that is if I become your dog and you become my family. My foster mom and the GPRA people will tell you anything else they know about me if you please email info@greatpyratlanta.com or click either “Contact Us” or “Apply to Adopt” below.

I’m two-years-old and as a new mom, I’m just too busy taking care of my nine puppies to get on a scale. You can tell by my pictures I’m a full-size Pyr, though. I’m also a shy Pyr until I get to know you when I’m super sweet. My puppies surprised GPRA—I was the only one who knew I was expecting—so my foster mom hasn’t had time to teach me about leash walking or actually learn a whole lot about me at all. I’m just a bit embarrassed to tell you I’ve had some overnight accidents but for all I know it because I don’t want to leave my puppies alone in the dark. We can talk more in a couple of months when I’ll be ready for my own forever home but it’s never too early to please email info@greatpyratlanta.com or click either “Contact Us” or “Apply to Adopt” below to start the conversation.
