Great Pyrenees

I’m Ripley, an almost 2+-year-old, 86 lb. female Great Pyrenees. We are a proud, independent breed, which means we don’t ask for help very easily. I need your help please. I’m a sweet girl and I need a very special human to support me while I unlearn some of my natural dog tendencies. For example, I’m a little over protective of my people so I bark when I think they are in danger. And even though keeping our families safe is what makes Pyrs so special, I need to remember twigs and wind and UPS trucks are not dangerous. And maybe you can also love me while I learn to be less protective of my food, too. I’m know I am not the only former stray who fears hunger and since I’m pretty sure you won’t eat my food, I am hoping you can help me learn to stop guarding it. Humans with dog experience would be PYRfect, and if these humans have kids, older ones are probably better so they can use my commands when we play and hang out. GPRA knew I needed some extra help and have sent me for some special classes. My new owner can learn all of the things that I have been taught too! I’m grateful GPRA rescued me once, if you want to help rescue me again, please email us at or click the “Apply to Adopt” button now so you can talk to a GPRA person about me.

Donate to Great Pyrenees Rescue of Atlanta

Our main mission at GPRA is to find the right permanent home for Great Pyrenees in distress, whether they are strays or from an overpopulated kill or no-kill shelter. We don’t care how old they are or what their medical condition is because we will make sure they receive a comprehensive medical evaluation, spaying or neutering, and even behavioral training if necessary.
