Hail to you, my pyr-loving countrymen and women! I’m Auggie, and did you know my name comes from Ancient Rome? My foster mom says I’ve got quite an august presence, so it makes sense. Not only am I big and tall, I’m one of the sweetest pyrs this side of the Colosseum! I know gladiators would battle each other in the arena, but I’m a lover, not a fighter. In fact, whenever I see or am near other dogs, I can’t stop whining because I’m just so excited to be with them! Going to a home with another doggy companion would be like living in Olympus, that’s Ancient Roman for heaven. While I’m good with my canine brethren, I adore my humans! At our villa, or home, I’ll love to be snuggled and given lots of pets, and I’ll even take treats very gently from your hand. When my GPRA transporter picked me up in her chariot, or car, I just wanted to keep nuzzling her! Car rides are still a little scary for me, but I know I can get used to it. One thing I’m already used to is pottying outside. Foster Mama says I haven’t had any accidents in the house, and I like to do my business on the leash. They say all roads lead to Rome, but the only road I want to take is the one that leads to you!

Our main mission at GPRA is to find the right permanent home for Great Pyrenees in distress, whether they are strays or from an overpopulated kill or no-kill shelter. We don’t care how old they are or what their medical condition is because we will make sure they receive a comprehensive medical evaluation, spaying or neutering, and even behavioral training if necessary.

Hey, y’all! I’m Summer Duckie, and I’m here to let the sunshine in with my warm and loving personality! Foster Mama says I’m very sweet and polite, so I make friends easily with humans and dogs. I’m especially like a ray of sunshine with children because I brighten their day with lots of pyr smiles and cuddles. Just like those tiny humans, I have a lot of energy! I really need to go to a home with another dog who can be my playmate and companion. With me at home, every day will be our day in the sun because I’m housetrained! I let you know when I need to go potty, and the only thing I chew on are my chew toys. While I don’t know every command under the sun, I do know the really important ones: sit, stay, and come. I’m also good on the leash, so let’s go on a walk and soak up some sun! If you want to go for Sunday drive, I ride well in the car too. My sunny disposition and my fun-loving pyr-sonality will have you waking up every day saying, “Good morning, Sunshine!”

Rise and shine, my lovely pyr people! It’s Sampson, here, and did you know my name means sun? My foster mama says that my personality shines a little brighter each day as I learn how to be loved by my humans. At first, I was like a little ray of sunshine peeping out from the clouds because while I was curious about people, I was still a little shy of them. I’m a bit cautious even now of new people, but my foster family has earned my trust. They’ve given me lots of fun chew toys! Basically, my human family is the moon to my sun. I’m really in sync with them because I’ve learned that they are safe and love me very much. In my new home, I’d love for my humans to be home a lot, so we can bond and I can feel loved and protected. My favorite time to cuddle my humans is when the sun has set; I’m an evening snuggle bunny! When Foster Mama says, “Good Morning, Sunshine” and we go for a walk, I look to her for direction. Foster Mom says I’m still learning how to walk on a leash, but I do pretty good. I’m very curious about dogs and cats, and I try to play with them when I see them on our neighborhood walks. Walking is of the best-est activities under the sun! I’m a good car rider too, so we can put the top down and sunbathe a bit. Inside the home, I have a sunny disposition too. I like to nap near my people, and my foster family is so proud of the fact that I’m house-trained! Pottying outside in a sunny backyard just seems like the natural thing to do. I’m getting used to things like being brushed too. One funny thing about me is that I love treats and my food, but I don’t like to be watched while I eat. I just don’t like the spotlight, or sunlight, on me while I’m snacking. Please, take me home! I’ll be your sunshine in the rain and give you all the love I have in my big, pyr heart!
