My Story

Hi, I’m Rufus, and if you’re looking for a calm, mellow gentleman with a soft heart and a serious appreciation for affection, I think we should meet! 🐾💙

My foster family describes me as calm, mellow, affectionate, cuddly, and friendly. I’m definitely more of a couch potato and lounger than an athlete. Give me a comfy place to relax, some gentle scratches, and people I love nearby, and I’m a happy guy.

I have very nice manners, too! I’m house-trained, walk very well on a leash, ride great in the car, and I’m respectful of fences. I know “sit” and seem to know “shake,” too. When we’re out walking, I’m a mellow gentleman and don’t get overly excited about the things going on around me. At home, I’m pretty quiet—my foster family says I’m not a barker. I also know how to use a doggy door!

I’m not especially food-motivated, although I’ll happily accept treats. I prefer treats placed on the ground rather than taking them from your hand. I’m also not very interested in toys, and I’m not a big chewer. Basically, I’m a pretty easygoing fellow.

When it comes to making friends, I appreciate people who are calm and respectful of my space. Once I’m comfortable with you, though, get those hands ready because I LOVE attention! In fact, my foster family says one of the cutest things about me is the little butt wiggle I do when I’m being scratched. I stomp my feet back and forth because it feels so good! And if you happen to stop petting me before I think you should, I may gently nudge your hand with my head as a little reminder. 😄

I’m ready to trade my foster home for the one thing I really want—a forever family of my very own. If your idea of the perfect companion is a sweet, quiet, cuddly guy who enjoys leisurely walks, car rides, lounging around the house, and plenty of affection, I just might be your Pyrfect match.

Love,
Rufus 🐾

Donate to Great Pyrenees Rescue of Atlanta

Our main mission at GPRA is to find the right permanent home for Great Pyrenees in distress, whether they are strays or from an overpopulated kill or no-kill shelter. We don’t care how old they are or what their medical condition is because we will make sure they receive a comprehensive medical evaluation, spaying or neutering, and even behavioral training if necessary.
