My Story
Hi there! My name is Merida. ๐
If you’re looking for a sweet, gentle girl with a playful side and a heart that’s ready to bloom, I just might be your perfect match.
I’ll admit it โ I can be a little shy when meeting new people. New faces make me cautious, and I prefer to approach strangers on my own terms and in my own time. But once I feel safe and comfortable, you’ll discover a happy, loving girl who has come such a long way.
My foster mom says I’ve made incredible progress over the last few months, both socially and emotionally. Every day I become a little more confident and a little more comfortable with the world around me.
One of my favorite things is spending time with other dogs. I absolutely love having canine friends around! You’ll often find me happily romping with them, tossing toys for myself, or lounging in the yard while they run around nearby. I don’t need to be the center of attentionโI just enjoy being part of the fun. Because of this, I’d love a forever home with another gentle, playful dog who can be my buddy and help continue building my confidence.
I’m house-trained, know how to use a doggy door, respect fences, and can be left home alone without causing any trouble. I don’t guard my food, toys, or treats, and I enjoy sharing space with my furry friends. I’m also an average barker, don’t counter surf, and have never had an accident in my foster home.
While I’m not especially food-motivated, I do enjoy tasty chews like salmon sticks, cow ears, and pizzles. I also have a funny little habit of tossing toys for myself and then chasing after them. My foster mom says it’s one of the many things that makes me special.
I can be a little uncertain about some things. Baths aren’t exactly my favorite, and car rides aren’t at the top of my list either, but I handle them the best I can and settle down quickly. When something makes me uncomfortable, I tend to freeze rather than react, because I’m a sensitive girl who is still learning that new experiences can be okay.
My foster mom says one of the sweetest things about me is the way I show happiness. I don’t always wag my tail, but you’ll know I’m excited by my big smile, bright eyes, happy little whimpers, and the way I gently paw at people I love. ๐
I may not be the dog who rushes up to greet every stranger, but if you’re willing to give me a little patience and time, you’ll be rewarded with a loyal, gentle companion who is ready to spend the rest of her life by your side.
Could I be the missing piece in your family? ๐พ

Our main mission at GPRA is to find the right permanent home for Great Pyrenees in distress, whether they are strays or from an overpopulated kill or no-kill shelter. We donโt care how old they are or what their medical condition is because we will make sure they receive a comprehensive medical evaluation, spaying or neutering, and even behavioral training if necessary.
