My Story

Hi there! I’m Mr. Pickles… although these days my foster mom and dad call me Pippin.🐾

And honestly? I think it fits me.

When I first arrived, I was still figuring things out and learning that life could be safe and full of good things. But now that I’m settled into my foster home, my foster family says I’ve really come into my own. I respond right away to Pippin now, and they swear I walk a little taller and carry myself with a little more pride these days.

If I had to describe myself, I’d say I’m sweet, smart, loving, curious, friendly, funny (but not goofy 😉), and eager to learn.

I’m a guy who likes balance in life. My mornings usually start with adventure mode — walks, zoomies, training sessions, exploring, and meeting new friends. Then I transition into professional napper status until it’s time for afternoon activities and evening fun.

Lately, I’ve been getting lots of practice being out and about in the world, and my foster dad says I’m doing beautifully. I’ve been visiting the neighborhood, going to the market, and meeting all kinds of new people, dogs, and even cats everywhere I go. I love making new friends and people are constantly stopping to tell my foster family what a stunning boy I am (not to brag… but I do have pretty fabulous floof 💁‍♂️).

I also had a recent boarding stay and came right back home without missing a beat. My foster family says that’s a huge sign of how much progress I’ve made and how confident and secure I’ve become.

I LOVE people and I absolutely love making friends. Neighborhood walks? One of my favorite things. Meeting other dogs? Excellent. Saying hello to new people? Sign me up. I’ve been practicing polite greetings and my foster family says my social skills get better every day.

I also really enjoy friendly dog friends and playdates. I’m curious about cats too — respectful and interested without being overwhelming. The cats don’t always appreciate a giant fluffy boy wanting to say hello, but I think they’re pretty fascinating.

Training has become one of my favorite things because I’m discovering that learning is fun (especially if treats are involved). I already know sit, down, come, and place, and I’m fully kennel trained now too. I walk nicely on leash, and while I can get excited sometimes, I’m becoming such a good walking buddy.

I’m affectionate and LOVE attention — belly rubs are definitely one of my specialties. I’m happiest when people let me say hello first, sniff a hand, and then lean in for pets. Once I know you, get ready… because I’m all in.

Some of my other favorite things include:
🐾 Sprinting through sprinklers
🐾 Hunting chipmunks and squirrels
🐾 Snuffle mats and enrichment games
🐾 Being told I’m a very good boy (because… I am)

My foster family says my sweet face and loving eyes make them smile every day because I genuinely love life. I’m excited for walks, excited for friends, excited for snacks… and most of all, excited to find my forever family.

Could that be you?

Love,
Mr. Pickles (aka Pippin) 💙

Donate to Great Pyrenees Rescue of Atlanta

Our main mission at GPRA is to find the right permanent home for Great Pyrenees in distress, whether they are strays or from an overpopulated kill or no-kill shelter. We don’t care how old they are or what their medical condition is because we will make sure they receive a comprehensive medical evaluation, spaying or neutering, and even behavioral training if necessary.
