My Story

Hi there, I’m Hector! You might notice right away that I’m a tripod — yep, just three legs — but don’t let that fool you. I get around great and don’t let it slow me down one bit!

When I came to GPRA from the shelter, I was in pretty rough shape — dirty, matted, and just plain uncomfortable. But once I got a good bath, a long brushing, and a fresh start, I felt like a brand-new Pyr. I even rolled over for belly rubs and gave out hugs to say thank you!

I’m a calm, loving guy who’s happiest when I can lean on someone who cares. I walk well on leash, stay relaxed when I see other dogs, and take all the new sights and sounds of the world in stride. I love people — whether it’s strangers, clinic friends, or volunteers — and I’ve got a gentle heart that just wants affection in return.

I’m housebroken, eat well, and don’t mind taking medicine if I need it. Sometimes I like to “chat” a little (what can I say, I have things to share!), but mostly I’m an easygoing companion who just wants to be by your side.

Right now, I’m staying in boarding, but what I really dream of is a foster or forever home where I can finally relax, love, and be loved.

Could that be with you?

Donate to Great Pyrenees Rescue of Atlanta

Our main mission at GPRA is to find the right permanent home for Great Pyrenees in distress, whether they are strays or from an overpopulated kill or no-kill shelter. We don’t care how old they are or what their medical condition is because we will make sure they receive a comprehensive medical evaluation, spaying or neutering, and even behavioral training if necessary.
